Our Lady Flight Into Egypt ~ Mary is honoured as the Chief Patron of our Diocese of Port Elizabeth. In accordance with the official liturgical Pastoral Guide it is therefore elevated to a solemnity (big feast) for the local church and celebrated on the Sunday that occurs on 4th February or between the 4th and 10th February each year.

At the heart of the Friendly City lies Port Elizabeth’s best kept secret. Tucked away in the halls of this gracious historic building, dating back to 1892, nestles the tranquil St Luke’s Retreat Center.
As you travel back through time, strolling through the historic arches, reflecting quietly in the magnificent chapel or ambling through its peaceful gardens, one is left breathless at the sheer magnificence of this gracious relic from the past.
For those wishing to spend a little time in solitude the chapel is open all day until late at night.
Serene, yet central to all the amenities of the city, St Luke’s, comfortably sleeps up to seventy four, and with conference rooms, a hall, lounges, dining room, and strategically placed kitchenettes, it is the ideal venue for retreats, conferences, workshops, meetings or weddings. St. Pius is a Multi-Denominational Spiritual Centre
Situated in East London, St. Pius Pastoral Centre adjoins the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Parish and is idealy located for Retreats, Workshops, Meetings and Conferences and offers affordable budget accommodation.
There are two conference rooms, one seating 60 people and the other 30 people. In total we can accommodate 41 people in 8 double rooms and 25 single rooms. Our dining Hall with a large well equiped kitchen, seats 90 people.

Stay In The Country While In The City
A great Christian YOUTH venue. Situated in the heart of Port Elizabeth, St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre adjoins the famous Settlers Park, the gateway to the Baakens Valley and is only a hundred meters from the beautiful botanical gardens and conservatory of Saint George’s Park. Whether you are strolling through the beautiful gardens or parks, or hiking one of the well known nature trails, you can enjoy the country right in the centre of the city.
This tranquil centre has 18 double rooms, 24 single rooms and 3 Flatlets. The rates, the most reasonable in Port Elizabeth, allow for bed only accommodation or should you wish to self cater, you may hire the shared kitchen for a nominal rate. Saint Joseph’s the ideal setting for retreats, or conferences and workshops for the youth of the Eastern Cape.
Facilities include lounge, conference rooms and a large swimming pool. For those wishing to spend a little time in solitude the chapel is open day and night.
